About Anandya

I'm a passionate tutor with a deep love for language, argument, and expression. My background includes four years of competitive debate, where I served as captain of my high school team, as well as four years of journalism training. I have been published in an article for InsideNOVA as a high senior. In addition to my writing credentials, I’ve competed and won in mock trials held at the Virginia Supreme Court, sharpening my ability to teach persuasive communication, critical thinking, and structured writing. I also can help with introductory competitive spelling (I do charge more for it), having helped train my younger sister Siya Sampath—now a two-time Scripps National Spelling Bee quarterfinalist—at the school and regional levels. My lessons are ideal for students from elementary through high school, including honors and AP students, young competitive spellers, young writers, and anyone looking to level up their skills in spelling, writing, or public speaking.

Looking for a passionate, results-driven English tutor? Whether you’re sharpening your writing, mastering spelling, or unlocking your creativity, I’m here to help. I offer personalized tutoring in English, Spelling, Academic Writing, and Creative Writing for students from elementary school through high school, including AP and honors students. Additionally, if you're looking for affordable spelling bee coaching, I also offer coaching for beginner spellers to develop systems that can take them from competing at a school level to qualifying for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. My teaching style blends structured skill-building with creative engagement. I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style, for example combining grammar and vocabulary drills with writing prompts, and guided reading analysis. A typical lesson includes: A quick warm-up or review to reinforce previous concepts A focus skill or mini-lesson (grammar, structure, spelling technique, etc.) Structuring for essays Hands-on practice through writing, editing, or reading exercises Real-time feedback and growth tracking Take-home exercises for further enrichment For spelling coaching: structured studying and drills divided by language groups I also do one free diagnostic session for each new student. I have a teaching style that I can amend to each student's needs and learning habits. I also draw from competitive academic experience, as I have excelled in speaking competitions (such as debate and mock trial) which will allow me to teach writing in a way that maximizes communication and conciseness.
