About Izzy

Hello! My name is Izzy and I am currently studying to become a teacher. Teaching has always been a passion of mine because I love helping children grow in confidence and discover their own strengths. While English is my main subject, I am confident teaching all areas of the Primary National Curriculum and enjoy adapting my approach to suit different learning styles. I aim to create engaging, supportive lessons that make learning enjoyable and help students make steady progress. Outside of teaching, I am passionate about sports and musical theatre (my favourite is Hamilton). I love watching live performances and exploring new sports- ice skating is my favourite to take part in, but I enjoy the atmosphere of any live event. Another hobby of mine is playing the piano, which I find calming and enjoy learning new songs when they get released!

About the lesson

My English tutoring approach focuses on making learning enjoyable, confidence-building, and easy to understand. I use clear explanations, creative activities, and gentle guidance to help younger students develop key skills such as reading, spelling, writing, comprehension, and sentence structure. I adapt my teaching style to each child’s needs—using games, stories, visual prompts, or step-by-step practice depending on how they learn best. A typical lesson lasts 45 minutes- 1 hour, which is ideal for maintaining focus while covering important skills. I have strong English skills and experience through placements standing in as a class teacher with all subjects taught at primary school alongside English. I am patient, encouraging, and able to break down tasks in a way children find friendly and easy to follow. My lessons are designed for students aged 5–13 who need extra support with reading fluency, spelling, writing confidence, comprehension, or early preparation for school assessments.
