About Albert

Hello there. I am really good at speaking English. I am also quite good at understanding what students find difficult and what the best way might be to help them - which makes me stand out as a teacher. I am usually quite informal and relaxed and enjoy humor, so would love to hear about your challenges and share a laugh or two while I help you get to know the language! I love traveling, meeting people and hearing stories (or telling them). Music inspires me and flying is something I dream about. Reading is what really improved my command of English, whether the stories were serious or hilarious! I did an honors degree through Unisa with English and Communications as majors and worked in the communications and marketing environment in senior positions for many years.

About the lesson

Methodology and uniqueness: My lessons are interactive, student-centred, and tailored to your learning style. I focus on practical communication skills, real-life situations, and confidence-building, making learning both effective and enjoyable. For example: if you're nervous about speaking, I use role-playing and conversation exercises to build your confidence. For grammar, I simplify complex rules with easy-to-remember patterns and fun exercises.
Language: I am highly proficient in English and my teaching is conducted in English to focus on your learning. One of my teaching gifts is that I tend to understand what it is that students have difficulty with, so focus attention on making it easier to understand and to fix, relieving some of the stress involved in getting to work with a new language.
What you can expect from a typical lesson with me: engaging, well-structured lessons with a mix of speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities. I use a variety of materials, including a variety of authentic written material, to ensure dynamic and engaging learning. A typical lesson might start with a short warm-up conversation, followed by a listening activity using real-world English (like a podcast or video clip). Then, we’ll focus on a specific grammar or vocabulary topic with practical exercises before ending with a speaking task to apply what you’ve learned.
Target Students: I teach students of all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. Whether you're learning for travel, work, exams, or personal growth, I adapt my lessons to your specific goals and needs. I teach adults and teenagers from beginner to advanced levels. I specialise in conversational fluency and business English for travellers or professionals.
