About Domenica

I am currently an MPhil student in Classics at the University of Cambridge, and I have been tutoring for around six years. Teaching is something I genuinely enjoy, and I find it particularly rewarding to see students grow in confidence as they develop their understanding of a subject.

Alongside private tutoring, I have experience working in a secondary school, where I taught English to KS3 classes. This gave me valuable experience working with students of different abilities and learning styles and taught me the importance of adapting my approach to each student.

I am a friendly and supportive tutor, and I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I predominantly work with students aged 16 and above, and I aim to create lessons that are both academically rigorous and enjoyable.

Ultimately, I tutor because I love learning myself and enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with others. Whether a student is preparing for an exam, working to strengthen their academic skills, or simply wants to engage more deeply with a subject, my goal is to help them become a more confident, independent, and thoughtful learner.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is based on dialogue learning. Rather than simply delivering information, I teach through structured and guided conversation, encouraging students to explain their ideas, ask questions, challenge assumptions, and develop their own understanding. Where appropriate, I use debate and discussion to help students think critically and engage more deeply with the subject.

I am a very friendly and supportive tutor, and I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and asking questions, even when they are unsure. I adapt my approach to each student’s individual needs, ability, and goals, while providing guidance and encouragement throughout the lesson.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although I am happy to adapt the length depending on the student and their requirements.

I predominantly tutor students aged 16 and above, including those preparing for further study or examinations, or looking to strengthen their knowledge and confidence in a particular subject. My lessons are particularly suited to students who benefit from discussion, critical thinking, and an interactive approach to learning.
