About Anna

I am a UBC science student with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for teaching. Alongside my studies, I have extensive experience tutoring students of different ages, levels, and learning styles.

I value patience, clarity, and encouragement in my teaching. I understand that English can feel intimidating—especially for ESL or international students—so I create a calm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Having studied and worked in multilingual environments, I understand the challenges of learning in a second language and adapt my explanations accordingly. I focus not only on improving academic performance, but also on helping students build confidence, independence, and strong communication skills.

I am organized, reliable, and committed to each student’s progress. My goal is to help students feel capable and supported, whether they are improving grades, strengthening writing skills, or gaining confidence in spoken English.

About the lesson

My English lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, grammar, and speaking, while also helping students gain confidence and independence in their work.

For school and academic English, I help students:
    •    Write clear, well-structured essays
    •    Improve grammar, sentence flow, and vocabulary
    •    Develop reading comprehension and critical thinking
    •    Prepare for tests, exams, and assignments

For ESL and international students, lessons emphasize:
    •    Speaking fluency and pronunciation
    •    Everyday and academic vocabulary
    •    Writing clearly and naturally in English
    •    Gaining confidence in conversations and presentations

Lessons are interactive and practical. I explain concepts clearly, break down complex ideas step-by-step, and provide guided practice so students truly understand—not just memorize. I also adapt the pace to ensure students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress each session.

My goal is not only to improve grades or fluency, but to help students feel confident, capable, and independent in English.
