About Emanuela

I am a TEFL-qualified linguist and a post-doctoral academic - researcher, lecturer, and professional writer. I have been teaching English and Italian in British and Italian universities for over 20 years. I have extensive experience in designing, teaching and assessing classes.

About the lesson

I use a blended teaching approach and I adapt my methodology to students' needs. My classes follow three basic principles. First, a solid structure and a tight organisation. I want my students to have clear instructions about the goal of each lecture, how each lecture fits in within their goals and the resources available. Second, empathy and collaboration. I strive to create an atmosphere that encourages students’ participation and involvement and I adapt themes and materials to their needs. Third, intellectual creativity. I want my students to make connections and engage with complexity. I tend to adopt an interdisciplinary methodology in my lectures, stimulating their curiosity with a variety of media materials and digital tools.

It was great to meet Fathu and his mother Febin. They are lovely. Fathy performed pretty well in the taster class, but he needs more practice in reading and, especially, writing. We will work specifically on writing in the next few weeks.
