About Kitty

I'm Kitty, an undergraduate student at the University of Liverpool, studying Philosophy and Politics. I have around five years of experience teaching students English and reading. I also have an A Level in English Language.

I've worked with students of all ages and abilities, including helping younger children develop their phonics and reading skills, supporting with SATs prep, and helping students to prepare for GCSE and A Level.

I'm particularly passionate about making students feel more confident in subjects they find difficult. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching approach to their age, ability and individual goals, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

I also have experience supporting students with dyslexia and understand the importance of creating a patient, encouraging environment where students can feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and build their confidence.

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and tailored to each student's needs.

I start by finding out what the student already understands and identifying the areas where they would benefit the most from support. We can then work through these areas together using clear explanations, examples and practice, with the aim of gradually building confidence.

For younger students, lessons can focus on phonics, reading, comprehension and writing.

For older students, I can help with essay writing, exam preparation, coursework, revision, and understanding difficult topics.

I want students to be able to leave every lesson knowing that they understand something a lot better than they came in at. Most importantly, I want them to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes... because that's how you actually learn!

Lessons are available online and at least one hour long.

Kitty has been an absolutely wonderful tutor for my daughter, and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

One of Kitty’s greatest strengths is the warm, encouraging and reassuring way she teaches. She built my daughter’s confidence from the very beginning, taking her from feeling nervous about tackling new areas of work to becoming much more confident and willing to learn. My daughter genuinely looked forward to her sessions, which is a real testament to Kitty’s approach.

Kitty is reliable, approachable, extremely knowledgeable and clearly has an excellent academic understanding of the subject. What really stood out was her ability to combine that knowledge with different teaching methods, adapting her approach to suit my daughter and the stage she was at. The lessons were always clear, structured and consistent, but never repetitive or boring.

Following Kitty’s sessions my daughter improved by two grades, but just as importantly, her whole attitude towards English changed. She became more confident, engaged and positive about the subject.

Kitty has made a real and lasting difference, both to my daughter’s grades and to her confidence. We are incredibly grateful and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent English tutor.
