About ChaunD

I am a Law and Psychology graduate from the University of Pretoria, currently pursuing my LLB degree. Having successfully navigated the rigors of a dual-discipline undergraduate degree, I understand the unique challenges of the Psychology curriculum, from the heavy reading loads to the precise requirements of scientific academic writing.

Having already completed my BA in Psychology, I have a "big picture" view of the degree. I know how foundational concepts in first year link to advanced theories in third year and beyond.

My legal training at UP has refined my ability to analyze data, critique arguments, and write with extreme precision—skills that are essential for high-level Psychology assignments and research reports.

My minor in Psychology wasn't just academic; it was practical. I have developed a toolkit of cognitive memory techniques and stress-management strategies that helped me succeed in two demanding fields simultaneously, and I am passionate about sharing these methods with my students.

I am dedicated to helping students move past the "overwhelmed" phase of their degree. My goal is to help you build a solid theoretical foundation and the academic confidence required to excel, whether you are aiming for your degree or a spot in a competitive Honors program.

About the lesson

My approach to Psychology tutoring goes beyond simply reviewing chapter summaries. I focus on helping students develop a deep, conceptual understanding of human behavior while mastering the technical skills required to excel in a Bachelor of Social Science or BA degree.

What our sessions focus on:

- Conceptual Mastery: We break down complex theoretical frameworks—from Developmental and Social Psychology to Biopsychology—into logical, easy-to-digest concepts.

- Academic Writing & Research: One of the biggest hurdles in Psychology is mastering the "scientific" style of writing. I provide targeted guidance on structuring essays, formulating arguments, and perfecting APA/Harvard referencing to ensure your assignments meet departmental standards.

- Scientific Study Methods: Leveraging my background in both Law and Psychology, I teach you how to use active recall and spaced repetition to handle high-volume content. We focus on how to study for "application-based" exam questions rather than just rote memorization.

- Critical Evaluation: I help you develop the ability to critique psychological studies and theories—a skill that separates a "passing" grade from a "distinction" grade.

Whether you are struggling with a specific module or looking to polish your research reports for a competitive Honours application, my sessions are designed to give you the clarity, structure, and confidence to succeed.
