About Riley
With a degree in Art History and Music from USC and a Certificate in Music from UCLA, I bring a wealth of knowledge and global experience to my teaching. Having traveled extensively and taught for five years in South Korea, where I co-founded an English academy and developed both fiction and nonfiction curricula, my 15 years of teaching experience span from my early days as a TA in high school to advanced instruction. I hold a TEFL Certification and a California Substitute Teaching Credential, ensuring that my teaching is both professional and effective. My background inspires confidence and demonstrates my commitment to excellence in education.

My teaching philosophy is human-first, and I approach every lesson unique to the student I am working with. I like to get to know how each student learns and adapt my lessons based on their individual needs. My renaissance scholar background enables me to connect with students using the vocabulary and methodology that works for them, specifically. A typical lesson plan includes the subject material, exercises, and unique ways to ensure the new knowledge is being internalized, rather than memorized. I specialize in helping students look at subjects that might have been harder for them in a new light by building patterns and connections to things that interest them.
