About Lachlan
In 2011, I was a high-scoring English student myself. I scored 48 on my English exam, and as a result, went into tutoring during my first Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing. I enjoyed it so much that I completed my Masters Degree in Teaching, and I have been a VCE teacher ever since. I am also still pursuing novel-writing and very much enjoy deconstructing texts from a creative and structural viewpoint. All of this is to say I love engaging with texts, writing, and teaching, all of which feed into each other quite wonderfully.

My name is Lachlan. I’ve been a VCE English and Literature teacher for 7 years. I’m currently focused on teaching and tutoring Year 12 English and Literature students for the end-of-year exam, but I am also taking Year 11 students. I’m patient, understanding, and always try to work with my students to ensure they achieve their goals, whether these are specific exam scores, higher confidence, or general improvements in their skill sets.
Over my teaching career, I have taught many students who have gone on to score 40+ in their exams and I’ve been lucky enough to help some students score a perfect 50. While this has been in no way entirely my own doing, working with such students has helped me to refine the habits, strategies, and mindsets of high-scoring students.
Session structure is negotiated with the student based on their needs. This can include but is not limited to lessons to: essay structure (for all sections of the exam), essay feedback, text comprehension, text discussion, analytical skills, revision strategies, and exam preparation.
