About Margot
I am a high school senior and future Carnegie Mellon University student (Class of 2030), where I will be pursuing a double major in Molecular Biology & Immunology and Linguistics. Driven by a deep love for language and communication, I achieved top scores of 5 on both AP English exams. Beyond science and syntax, I am an avid reader and creative writer who crafts poetry and loves diving into expansive sci-fi worlds like Frank Herbert's Dune.

Hello! I am a dedicated English and writing tutor specializing in literature, essay structure, creative writing, and poetry. My lessons are tailored for all educational levels, from Kindergarten through College. Whether your child is just learning to read, a high schooler tackling complex essays, or a college student analyzing advanced poetry, I adapt my pacing and material to match their exact needs. I believe in a hands-on learning approach centered directly on literature. Instead of lecturing, I actively engage students with the text. We work together to unpack the material, transforming reading from a passive chore into an active, analytical skill. I focus heavily on building confidence, vocabulary, and critical thinking.
Deep-Dive Reading: We read through the selected text line by line to ensure nothing is missed.
Vocabulary & Context Guidance: I guide students through unfamiliar words, complex sentences, and historical context.
Guided Analysis: We discuss the themes, literary devices, and deeper meanings behind the text.
Student Summary: The lesson concludes with the student creating a short summary of the pieces we covered, ensuring they fully comprehend and can articulate what they learned.
What sets me apart is my ability to simplify the complex. I do not just give students the answers; I give them the tools to decode language on their own. By breaking literature down line by line and transitioning immediately into writing summaries, my students rapidly improve both their reading comprehension and their written communication skills in one cohesive session.
