About Susan
With over 20 years of experience in education (Special Education, Reading, Elementary, Higher Education) I bring a plethora of knowledge and skills. My Undergraduate degree in Special Education came from Appalachian State University in NC and MaEd in Reading Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Currently, I am working towards an Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction and Special Education.

My teaching method is individualized and assessment driven. Instructional techniques are evidence based, engaging and are proven. Lessons begin with a quick review of sounds/words/etc and then move into new concepts. The new concepts are multisensory activities and work towards automaticity and fluency. Then we take the reviewed and new concepts and practice within text. My tutoring techniques are prescriptive and designed with appropriate pacing for each client.
