About Alex
I am a college student at UMass Amherst and a Women, Gender, and Sexuality major with an education minor. I come from a city in North Carolina and love being able to help children be their most creative selves. I am an activist and I want to be able to find intersectionality between the student I tutor.

I have worked with students K-8 in the past on their writing skills and finding creative ways to convey their emotions. I would like to work more with middle and high school students on their writing. I will typically ask that the student come with either something already written or an idea of something they feel passionate enough to write about. We will then go over their work and have them start a draft. If they only wish to do one session, we can create a final piece with some revisions after the draft. If not, I may ask the student to take some time outside of the sessions to revise their work and see if there's anything they want to change.
Being a person of color who did not grow up with the support around my creative writing, I hope to bring that support and encouragement to other children. I hope I can create a space where children can write work hey are proud of but still have someone to bounce their ideas off of.
