About John

I was introduced to a lot of great music as a kid. From a very young age, I remember watching my family and their friends all get together after holiday meals and play music for hours. Guitar, fiddle, piano, you name it. They would play everything from classic country like Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, to Funk and Soul, Rock, Blues, or Gospel. There was no shortage of musical influences for me, and I love them all to this day. I started out learning scales, chords, and songs on guitar like any other musician, but it really became more than that for me. It became an outlet and helped fuel creativity in all other aspects of my life. That's what I strive to pass on to my students. In 2012 I received my College Degree in Commercial Music Performance with guidance from career greats Dick Gimble, Jon Fox, Beth Ullman, Bill Howard, and Pat McKee, among many others and began thoroughly studying improvisation, Rock, Country, Hip-Hop, Blues, Funk, classical, songwriting, jazz, music composition, and music business. In the years following I toured all over the nation with many renowned bands like William Clark Green and Brandon Rhyder and also shared venues/studios with the likes of Vanilla Ice, Gary Allan, Tracy Byrd, Midnight Star, and many more.

All kinds of music and levels are welcome, from total beginner to advanced players. Each individual lesson is tailored to the student's specific desires and musical preferences. I can teach you songs, technique, theory, improvisation, fingerstyle, songwriting, and much more. No more learning songs that you don't even like or endlessly scrolling on YouTube. I mean, c'mon. Why would you? I will show you step by step how to achieve your goals in the fastest way possible by figuring out the ways in which YOU learn best.
