About Meredith

Hi, I’m Meredith, a dedicated and experienced tutor with a background in both higher education and early childhood learning. I spent over two years as a Communications Tutor at the university level, where I helped college students strengthen their public speaking, writing, and technical communication skills. I’ve also worked closely with younger learners, tutoring elementary students in grammar, reading, writing, and foundational math, starting with twin boys I supported from age six onward. My approach is patient, personalized, and focused on helping each student feel confident in their abilities. I tailor every lesson to meet the individual needs of the learner, whether we're building basic grammar skills or preparing a presentation. With a strong foundation in language and communication, and a professional background that demands clarity and precision, I bring both structure and creativity to my sessions. Outside of tutoring, I love going on long walks, staying active, spending time with my dog, and making memories with friends and family. I’m always up for discovering new places and learning new things, which is part of what I love most about teaching! About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is rooted in clarity, encouragement, and personalization. I adapt each lesson to the student’s age, learning style, and goals, whether that’s mastering the basics or building advanced communication skills. I combine structure with flexibility, ensuring students feel both supported and challenged.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review or warm-up to reinforce previous material, followed by a focused activity that introduces or practices a key skill, such as grammar rules, reading comprehension, or sentence structure. I often use visual examples, storytelling, and interactive exercises to make the material more engaging, especially for younger learners. We wrap up with a recap and a small takeaway task to reinforce what we’ve covered.

What sets me apart is my background in both higher education and early childhood tutoring. I worked for over two years as a university communications tutor, helping college students improve their public speaking and technical writing. I also have years of experience tutoring children, including long-term support in reading, grammar, and math for young learners. I bring the same level of clarity, empathy, and attention to detail to every session, regardless of age or subject.
