About Ash

I would be a perfect fit for you/your child as I always provide a cheerful face and positive attitude, and I believe positive reinforcement will always be the most important factor in motivation and success.

I engage myself a lot in 'training' children, as I am a Young Leader at my local Beaver's group. This weekly opportunity is so rewarding as we help them collect badges and develop skills. We love teaching them, but they also teach us a lot! It has also been amazing as I would love to pursue a teaching role later in life, so children and education have always been involved in my life.

In all of my sessions, I bring a relatable and down-to-earth style, in which I cater to what every individual needs, not just what is on the syllabus. Formal examination is something I myself have struggled with, but I think having a current student as a tutor can really ensure a more realistic taste of modern education, especially one who has overcome major exams.

Outside of school, my hobbies include writing and photography. I recently wrote a short story which I am looking to publish or enter into a competition. I have an Instagram page dedicated to my photography, and I love watching my skills grow. I am also an avid sports fan, and I am a season ticket holder to my favourite football team.

Not only am I tutoring professionally to earn some more money as I navigate higher education prospects, but this opportunity would be amazing to put myself in a realistic example of a career I would potentially like to engage in later in life.

About the lesson

I teach in a lecture style but with student-led practices. Students will always have the opportunity to ask questions and we will rely on retrieval practice to ensure the best long-term retention.

Qualifications: Informal tutoring of family and family friends, tutored my brother throughout SATS and he passed English despite not doing the best beforehand.
I have had consistent academic results throughout school, my predicted grades have always been 7-9 in English, and I achieved a high 7 (A) in GCSEs for both Literature and Language. I now study English Literature further and have been predicted an A/A*.

I try to cater all lessons to the student's individual abilities, I have experience with students in year 6 to year 9, but am always willing to learn more about what older/younger pupils need.
