About Kira

I am a Year 10 student at Balwyn High School, where I serve as a Student Ambassador, STEP Leader, and Tutorial Captain. These roles involve mentoring younger students and assisting with the transition to secondary school. Having attended Balwyn North Primary (IB) and now Balwyn High, I have a firsthand understanding of the academic expectations in the local area.

Outside of school, I play the piano and cello, which has taught me the value of persistence and consistent practice. I also stay active through badminton and yoga to maintain a balanced and organized schedule. I bring this same hardworking and professional approach to my tutoring, helping primary students build the skills and confidence needed to get ahead for Year 7.

About the lesson

Techniques & Methodology

Essay Structuring: Teaching the standard paragraph models (like TEEL) used in Victorian secondary schools.

Curriculum Ahead Learning: We will look at Year 7 text types and analysis styles early so your child is already familiar with the content.

Vocabulary & Grammar: Focusing on the specific "academic" language needed to succeed in high school English.

Note-Taking: Developing a system for students to capture key information efficiently during class.

Lesson Length

1-2 hours per session.

Year 10 Student: Currently achieving above-average results in Balwyn.

Recent Experience: I successfully transitioned to high school recently and know exactly what is required to excel in the local school system.

Peer Mentor: I provide a relatable, patient environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
