About Susan

I am an Adult ESL Teacher and IELTS Examiner and Coach with TESL Canada Level 2 certification, over twelve years of instruction experience with immigrant and refugee learners, as well as ESL students. I especially enjoy working with students so that they feel good about really using English, whether it is to settle in the community, to get involved in community life, or to prepare for work and more school. I am knowledgeable in Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA. I just received my certificates in CBL and PBLA, as well as ESL for All, and I am still learning and growing. I aim to create a friendly, caring and enjoyable classroom or learning environment. I think interactive experiences and technology make learning current and practical. I love to teach face-to-face, online or a combination of the two.

About My Teaching I am an Adult ESL Instructor and IELTS Preparation Tutor who specializes in helping learners build confidence, clarity, and real-world communication skills. I use communicative, task-based teaching methods supported by the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA). This means lessons are structured, goal-focused, and always connected to real-life needs. For IELTS, I break the test into clear, understandable skills and teach simple, repeatable strategies that help students raise their band scores.
