About David

I have always had a passion for language, as both a linguist and a writer. I began teaching while still in college, working with the Upward Bound program to prepare low-income high school students for the many essays and analyses that their college careers would demand of them. In the two decades that followed, and through multiple jobs, I have continued to pass on what I can to those who have been interested. I helped many of my fellow Marines with their own coursework while they pursued their higher education goals, and eventually joined the public school system to keep working with students who have high aspirations in English. I hope you come away with not just a better understanding of your coursework, but with an enthusiasm for the written word.

About the lesson

Whether it's writing an essay or story, or interpreting a dense text, I teach high schooler and even college freshmen to approach their work with a goal-focused framework that makes it easier for them to break their topic down and reassemble it into pieces that not only make sense to them, but demonstrate that understanding to others.
