About Richard
Hello, my name is Rich. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Language Arts and a minor in Education, and I am a licensed teacher (Language Arts, 7-12). My passion for teaching began in the sixth grade, and I have spent my life pursuing opportunities to educate youth. When I was younger, I coached fourth through seventh-grade basketball, and when I was a little older, I coached Little League baseball for four years. I have also worked at day camps, sports camps, and summer programs offered by the schools in the districts where I substituted.

As a tutor, I am highly adaptable and skilled at translating complex concepts into engaging, digestible lessons. I have taught just about every subject, from elementary through middle school and high school curriculums, and I have the skills to quickly familiarize myself with content and present it in a fun and digestible way. I come prepared to each session with a plan of action, possible visual learning aids if the lesson calls for them, and a desire to help each student succeed. Whether we are reviewing school-assigned homework or working through custom curriculum that I design, I am flexible and understanding and realize that my success is completely dependent on the success of my students.
I have over twenty years of classroom teaching experience spanning most subjects on each level of formal education (K-12), including inclusive and self-contained special needs classes during my substituting years, as well as during the last ten years at the Monarch Center for Autism. I have prepared, implemented, and evaluated one-on-one and group lessons for students with variable skill levels. While my specialization is secondary Language Arts, I am fully equipped to support students in almost any subject. My only objectives are to support my students' educational goals and share my love of learning. I welcome any suggestions students or their families might provide. I am easy to communicate with and will respond in a timely fashion
