About Henrien Joyce
I'm an Anthropologist by profession. My research focuses on the effects of the American diet on the body overtime. My area of study is the Pacific Rim- China, Japan, Korea, and the Philippines.
I'm also a stand up comic and a poet. I write fiction and non fiction stories. And I currently working on two upcoming film projects.
And I will be volunteering as a court appointed advocate for children in foster care starting next year..
And lastly, I mentor artists who want to develop their craft and mold their talents to a higher level.

My approach to teaching is that everyone, young or old, can learn Filmmaking, Public Speaking, Acting, and Wellness. Film is a vehicle to understanding Human Behavior, Other Cultures, Communication Structures, Historical Events and Artist Development.
Through observation, analytical discussions and storytelling, Film can teach Cultural Literacy to individuals who may be new to their cultural environment.
A typical lesson includes viewing films and film clips, discussing the story structures, determine what cinematic techniques were used in the storytelling structure and recreate different ideas.. Students will be asked to create their own stories from one sentence or one word.
What makes me different from other tutors? Being an anthropologist, allows me to see the world from my students cultural perspective, which helps me to teach them better and helps them to learn more through a better understanding of the fundamentals that lead to a stronger foundation in Filmmaking/Acting, Public Speaking, and Wellness.
