About Ross

My name is Ross Hyde, and I am a CELTA Cambridge qualified English teacher with experience teaching students of all ages in an academy in Spain.

I also bring over 8 years of instructional experience from the British Army, where I worked as an instructor in multiple roles, delivering structured training in high-pressure environments. This has given me the ability to explain complex ideas clearly, stay patient, and adapt to every learner.

Having taught internationally in countries including Kenya, Ukraine, Iraq, and Afghanistan, I am confident working with students from diverse backgrounds and tailoring lessons to individual needs.

As a B2 Spanish learner myself, I understand the challenges of learning a new language. I’m patient, supportive, and genuinely committed to helping my students build confidence and succeed.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is student-focused, supportive, and results-driven. I create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident to speak, make mistakes, and improve naturally. I believe consistency, clear structure, and encouragement are key to building both skill and confidence in English.

I use a combination of structured lessons and conversational practice. My structured lessons focus on grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing, following CEFR levels from A1 to B2. Alongside this, I incorporate conversation-based learning to help students develop fluency, pronunciation, and real-world communication skills. I tailor every lesson to the individual student’s goals, whether that’s improving general English, preparing for exams, or gaining confidence in speaking.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, though I can be flexible depending on the student’s needs. Lessons are delivered online and include a mix of guided practice, interactive activities, and feedback to ensure steady progress.

I am a CELTA Cambridge qualified English teacher with over 8 years of instructional experience, including teaching in structured environments and working with diverse learners. I also have 1 year of experience teaching ESOL, helping students improve their English for everyday life and work.

My lessons are suitable for learners aged 16 and above, from beginner (A1) to upper-intermediate (B2) level. I particularly enjoy working with students who are motivated to improve their confidence, fluency, and overall communication skills in English.
