About Mushka
I am a New York State certified Special Education teacher with experience supporting students who learn differently. I specialize in working with students with language-based learning disabilities, helping them build the foundational skills they need to become confident, independent learners. My work centers around literacy development, with a strong emphasis on reading, spelling, and written expression. I integrate structured, evidence-based programs such as Wilson Fundations, Barton, and Orton-Gillingham methods to target phonological awareness, decoding, and comprehension. I’m passionate about creating a warm, encouraging environment where students feel successful, capable, and motivated to learn.

English
A typical reading lesson with me focuses on building strong phonics skills, developing reading fluency, and deepening comprehension. I tailor each session to meet the individual needs of my students, using a structured, multisensory approach that helps them connect sounds to letters and make sense of what they read.
Lessons often include engaging activities that strengthen decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies, while also helping students gain confidence and enjoyment in reading. This type of instruction is especially valuable for elementary and middle school students who are struggling with reading, have language-based learning difficulties, or simply want to build greater fluency and accuracy.
