About Ava
I have 7 years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Science in Education. Throughout my coaching journey, I have worked with beginners, scholastic players, club competitors, and tournament participants who wanted to strengthen their strategic understanding and competitive confidence. I enjoy helping students discover that chess develops valuable life skills including patience, logical reasoning, concentration, and disciplined decision-making.
One learner joined my classes after repeatedly losing games due to rushed decisions during the middlegame despite having solid opening preparation. Together we focused on calculation techniques, positional evaluation, and structured game analysis through consistent practice sessions. Over several months, the student developed greater confidence, improved tournament performance, and achieved a significant increase in competitive rating.
I believe every chess player improves through thoughtful practice, careful analysis, and the willingness to learn from every victory and defeat. My coaching style encourages curiosity, resilience, and independent thinking while creating a positive environment where students enjoy continuous improvement. Helping learners become stronger, more confident players remains the most rewarding part of my teaching career.
Outside coaching, I enjoy studying classic championship games, following modern international tournaments, solving advanced tactical puzzles, and exploring innovative chess training methods. These experiences allow me to introduce fresh strategies, practical ideas, and engaging learning activities into every lesson. I would be delighted to help you strengthen your chess skills, improve your strategic thinking, and achieve your personal chess goals.

I begin by evaluating each student's current playing level, learning style, and chess goals before creating a personalized improvement plan. This allows every lesson to focus on strengthening fundamental skills while gradually introducing advanced strategic concepts. Classes combine theory, practical exercises, and interactive gameplay to ensure students develop confidence through consistent practice.
Students first master opening principles such as rapid piece development, central control, king safety, and efficient coordination before expanding into complete opening systems. Middlegame instruction focuses on tactical motifs, positional planning, piece activity, pawn structures, and calculation techniques through carefully selected training positions. Endgame lessons strengthen essential skills including king activity, pawn promotion, opposition, rook endgames, and practical winning methods that frequently determine competitive results.
Puzzle-solving activities improve pattern recognition, visualization, and analytical thinking while encouraging students to calculate variations accurately before making decisions. Every practice game is thoroughly analyzed to identify strengths, recurring mistakes, and opportunities for improvement rather than simply reviewing final results. Lessons also include tournament preparation, time management, psychological resilience, and practical decision-making to help students perform confidently under competitive conditions.
Students preparing for school tournaments, chess club competitions, online rating improvement, district championships, national events, or FIDE-rated tournaments receive customized training plans supported by regular assessments and detailed game reviews. I continuously monitor progress, refine learning objectives, and encourage independent analysis between lessons. Every session concludes with personalized practice assignments that reinforce newly developed skills while supporting steady long-term improvement.
