About Prachi

Hello, I’m Prachi. I’m a final-year law student at Durham University with near-native English proficiency and a strong interest in teaching and communication. I have always enjoyed working with language, both spoken and written, and much of my academic and extracurricular experience has involved explaining complex ideas clearly and patiently to others. I hold an IELTS Academic score of Band 8.0 and achieved top results in English throughout my schooling, including being awarded the highest score in my school at GCSE level. I want to teach English because I genuinely enjoy helping students build confidence in expressing themselves. I understand that learning a language can feel intimidating, especially in academic or professional settings, and my aim is to create a supportive, calm environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn. I approach tutoring in a professional, organised, and student-focused way. Whether a student is looking to improve their spoken English, grammar, or confidence, I aim to make lessons practical, engaging, and reassuring.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is focused on clarity, patience, and building confidence in using English naturally. I tailor each lesson to the student’s level, goals, and learning style. I place a strong emphasis on clear explanation, practical usage, and active participation rather than rote learning. This might include guided conversation practice, structured grammar support, vocabulary building through real-life examples, or help with academic or professional English, depending on what the student needs. I encourage students to ask questions freely and make mistakes, as this is often where the most learning happens. Lessons are typically 60 minutes, as this allows enough time to cover material thoroughly while keeping sessions focused and engaging. Shorter or longer sessions can be adjusted depending on the student’s preference and concentration level. My lessons are suitable for school students, university students, and adult learners, particularly international students or non-native speakers who want to improve their spoken English, grammar, vocabulary, confidence, or academic communication skills. I am happy to work with beginners through to advanced learners, adapting the pace and focus of each lesson accordingly.

Prachi is a great teacher who meets students where they're at and adapts her teaching style to how they learn best. Not only does she have strong subject matter knowledge, but she is also a natural when it comes to breaking down complex ideas into easier to follow chunks. She creates a supportive, low-pressure environment that encourages questions and engagement, and is genuinely invested in student success.

Prachi has helped with tutoring my younger brother in English and Hindi over the past year and the improvement under her tutelage has been extremely apparent. She has been very supportive and kind to him whilst maintaining professionalism and we really appreciate all her help. She is definitely more than qualified, as someone who has headed multiple debate society meets, her ability with languages is impressive. Initially met her over a summer course while at university, she is very genuine and overall a great tutor. In terms of tuition sessions she has shown great attention to detail and helped my brother sharpen up his weak areas with a lot of positive reinforcement which we found was best for his style of learning. Definitely recommend her if you are looking for that extra bit of attention.
