About Amy

With a Bachelor of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Canada, I am a professional intermediate-secondary teacher, certified by the Ontario College of Teachers of Ontario. I have over 6 years of experience teaching English as a second language, including 3 years in Canada and almost 4 years in France. I also have experience teaching adults who wish to improve their English level in the workplace as well as those who seek to take agrégation.

About the lesson

My pedagogy mainly consists of the "Action-oriented approach" – an approach that emphasizes learning through communication, based on accomplishing tasks under real and daily circumstances. My goal is, therefore, to help you be able to put into application the English language as quickly as possible.

**** I teach all levels and ages in accordance to your needs and skills (oral, written, adapted for children, Business English, agrégation, etc.).

THE FIRST CLASS of 30 mins includes :

1) Communique to me your expectations for taking English classes with me (what are your strengths/weaknesses, what do you want to achieve/improve, etc.).

2) So that I may get a better idea of your level:
– For the smaller ones' parents, please prepare in advance your child.ren's homework, classwork, tests, workbooks, textbooks, etc.
– If you are a university studen, please send me by email documents you will be studying, course description and outline, past tests and papers, and bring with you your textbooks.
– If you are a working professional, please prepare samples of your written work, documents in English that you're working on (if confidentiality rules allow you to do so), and past presentations you may have given in English
– If you are an agrégation/CAPES candidate, please bring with you the works you have the most difficulty with and send me by email the audio files that you have the most difficulty understanding

3) Planning the "semester" (6 sessions):
– State long-term and short-term objectives (apres 6 and 12 sessions)
– Specify the exact steps to achieve these objectives in either 6 or 12 sessions

OPTION C of 1h30min / 40€ includes:
- Option B + demonstration of knowledge application + assessment et self-reflection

OPTION D (if in Paris) of 2hours / €60 includes:
- Option C, but instead of an action-oriented activity on a limited, we would go on a mini-excursion, using only English, such as to a park, café, store, etc.
