About Mike

I’m Mike; a TEFL Level 5–certified Business English tutor with an MBA in progress, and I specialise in helping adults improve their workplace communication clearly and confidently. My background includes supporting adult ESOL learners (18–40) to build fluency through relaxed, practical conversation, plus focused support on the language you actually need for work (meetings, emails, interviews, presentations, and day-to-day professional chat). I’ve also spent time in Japan through international training, which strengthened my cross-cultural awareness and the way I adapt my communication to different people and settings; a big help for real-world Business English. I’m known for calm, clear explanations, personalised goals, and supportive feedback that helps you feel comfortable, capable, and make steady progress. Relevant qualifications include: MBA (in progress) TEFL Level 5 (168-hour) TEFL Business English Certificate (30-hour) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) + 1st Class BA (Hons) (I'm also native English)

About the lesson

Relaxed, friendly 1-to-1 Adult English lessons tailored to you. I adapt every session to your role, level, goals, and learning style so you feel comfortable and make steady progress. I’m easy to talk to, and I create a calm, no-pressure space where you can try things out, make mistakes safely, and build confidence fast. I specialise in Business English and workplace communication, with experience helping adult learners grow fluency, clarity, and practical skills for real situations — meetings, emails, interviews, presentations, and everyday professional conversation. I’m TEFL Level 5 certified with a Business English certificate, and I’m currently completing an MBA, so sessions stay relevant, realistic, and focused on what you actually need at work.

Mike has been like a breath of fresh air for us. Our son is autistic PDA, nervous system disability. Mike has taken the time to really get to know our son, and we admire the patience and moments of learning that Mike weaves into the class. Our son likes to have a sense of ownership and the way that Mike is able to navigate this without judgement is truly telling not only of a great teacher but a very kind hearted person. We are very grateful to have him on board team A!

Mike has helped with my 6 year old son for the last 9 months.
My son struggles at school with his English. Mike has been able to adapted lessons to keep my son fully engaged. Mike has made a great difference to my son’s reading and writing. Best of all my son enjoys going to his lessons, which I see as a great achievement for Mike, as my son will not sit down for more than 10 minutes of work with me. Thank you, Mike

Mike has been fantastic working with our 6yo boy - my son listens to Mike, is always happy and has made great progress. Children are so unpredictable and our son certainly has demand avoidance but with Mike he has sat for an hour many times in a row doing homework. We are very pleased
