About Shane
I have seven years of classroom experience, teaching high school English and writing. I am also a formally trained writing tutor. In addition, I have conducted over 4,000 online tutorial sessions. Much of my experience includes proofreading college level and graduate level essays, college applications, resumes and other formal writing.
I love writing and helping people improve their writing. My favorite parts about the writing process are finding the perfect word and developing an awesome thesis statement.
I am a formally trained tutor. My training included a one year university level course and a semester of conducting in-person tutorials. Since then, I have conducted over 4,000 tutorial sessions in-person and online. In addition, I have seven years of experiencing teaching high school English: grades 9, 10 and 12.

Most importantly, I want my students to feel completely satisfied with the outcome of their session. I begin each session by establishing a goal with my students. For example, developing a clear thesis statement that aligns to the prompt, improving organization in the body paragraphs, or inserting more specific examples into the college application essay.
I have worked with all types of students including native English speakers, and non-native English speakers, middle school, high school, college and graduate level students.
