About Rachel
I have an extensive background in leadership and teaching. I connect easily with young learners and take a positive, encouraging approach. My strong subjects are English, Humanities, and the Arts. I have a solid knowledge of the Maths and Sciences as well if needed.
My mom, grandmother and great grandmother are and were teachers. I have always done some type of teaching or mentoring throughout my entire adult life.
I have a high school diploma and almost three years of general college courses. I teach music and horsemanship and provide tutoring and mentors hip for friends and family.

First I speak with the parent or parents to understand the main purpose for seeking a tutor, and the goals and objectives they have in mind. I ask about the learning style of the student, any barriers to learning and discuss the most effective methods for their student. I then meet (virtually or in person) with the parent and student and go over their objectives and discuss scheduling and preferred meetup method.
I have taught music and horsemanship to students aged 6 to adult. For tutoring I prefer grade 4 and up.
It's important to remember that even the very best teacher is not a perfect fit for every student. The student's needs come first, and it's ok to shop around and try out a few teachers before choosing one. If you choose me, great! If not, it's ok, you need to find the right tutor for you!
I am very close to my family, and recently two of my siblings were in town to visit with their families. We sang songs and played instruments together, and baked lots of breads and treats. These are my favorite times of laughter and food and music.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What is my learning style? Do I like to watch and then do, or do I prefer a thorough explanation before attempting hands on in stages?
2. What are my problem areas/subjects?
3. Do I learn better in person or can I get the help I need via virtual meetups?
