About Kelsey

I am a highly qualified teacher in the state of Virginia. I taught 9th grade English from ESOL to Honors English. I tutored students 9-12 grade. I have proofread and revised student papers (over 2,600 papers). I relate the material to help students draw better connections. I am passionate about student success and do not accept student failure without trying attempts.

I enjoy helping students become more confident and independent in the area of English. Writing and personal I aight into a text makes a person vulnerable. I enjoy helping student's gain confidence in those areas.

I heard two songs on the radio written about September 11, 2001. I thought to myself: "How cool would it be to have the students compare and contrast the tone/mood of these two songs!" That is a true story!

I taught for 10 years at public school. I worked with students ranging from 7-12 grade. I have a BA in English Education with a minor in coaching from Shippensburg University.

About the lesson

I like to make the instruction personalized for each individual. I like to ask the student what areas of focus he/she wants to concentrate on and where he/she feels the struggles are. I also use the student assignments upon completion to help ensure any other areas are helped and enhanced as well.

I have worked with a wide variety of students. I have worked with students who needed special assistant and those that were wise beyond their years. I have worked with students who LOVE English and worked with those who LOATHE English.
