About Olivia
Welcome to Enlighten!
My name is Olivia, and my passion is helping students grow more confident in their reading and writing journey through exposure, practice, and encouragement.
My true love is narrative fiction, but I believe learning the building blocks to prose, rhetoric, grammar, and the general communications can improve a student's chances of success in the real world by tenfold, and furthermore make them confident in their abilities to change minds.
I have been tutoring for about 6 years, starting with young siblings and peers until I reached college which allowed for me to increase my workload and explore new chapters of my tutoring sessions. I worked with professors to put together mini courses of my own to help younger students enjoy the power of persuasive English and literature.
I graduated high school at 16 years old, at the top of my class and immediately skipped to college. My minor studies were focused on English Language Studies, while much private study was done in fiction and western literature, writing processes and world history, which became a source of inspiration for many of my essays and persuasive pieces that have won awards. I have also been an active member of the Atlanta Writers Club for 3 years.
I currently do not use social media like Facebook or Instagram because I believe it clouds our mindsets with a dense dust cloud of insecurity, misinformation and discouragement, but I'd be happy to provide you with personal work I've completed, references, and a more in-depth look at how I'm capable of making your child flourish CONFIDENTLY in English Language Arts.
I am obsessed with breaking down bits of persuasive writing, fiction, poetry, or any form of thought exchange because our thoughts and beliefs and the transference of especially the latter are who we ARE. We are incredibly creative creatures with the ability to give each other images in our minds as we share stories, change opinions with new information, and encourage each other to stand by their beliefs backed up by strong evidence. Humans are amazing!
My primary school teachers were, safe to say, the most dedicated and loving group of women anyone could have been blessed to learn from. Mrs. Johnson, though, my third grade teacher, made learning fun! She would toss us prizes and treats when we impressed her with our focus and shared our interests, and often rewarded us with projects we could shape into a super exciting experience! She had a treasure chest for students who changed her mind or taught HER something new. Morning journals to encourage reflection, goal seeking to empower students, and attention to each and every learning mind, the foundation of education. Thanks Mrs. Johnson.

My typical process is to first establish two key pieces of the relationship with my students: their struggles and their goals. I enjoy learning about my students and catering to their unique needs and specialities. Then I waste no time, while incorporating some of the students own interests, getting down to business and tackling the struggles at their root, therefore helping them achieve their goals.
I generally enjoy working with ages 7-13. Any younger is certainly doable, but requires a little bit of teamwork with the student's parents to ensure the stuff sticks and is truly perceived.

Liv did an excellent job tutoring my son who was struggling in particular areas that she was able to hone in on and improve. I would absolutely recommend her as a tutor to anyone, I’ve even given her information out to friends. She’s not only professional and knowledgeable but very personable. She exudes passion for teaching and it showed greatly in my son’s progression. He’s become fascinated with literature that I never would have thought he’d heard of before. It makes me proud and takes a bit of stress off my back that he finishes his assignments with ease and seems more interested in his class work. All in all she is a great person that truly exemplifies what it means to teach.
Working with Olivia as a tutor has been an overall pleasant experience. Concepts that once seemed foreign and overwhelming to deal naturally became a breeze. Her ability to guide me through aspects of literature I’ve always lacked in remains effortless, as she focuses on making me a better writer. Tutoring should be focused on moving at the learners pace and while giving them the sense that you are learning with them and Olivia does just that!
Enlighten and specifically Olivia did a great job with my son, who was failing several of his middle school classes. Once a week for the summer and my kid is pulling out new perspectives on things, giving the classes he couldn’t bother with some time and energy, and he even has a B+ in ELA. I will say, after reading his last assignment, which he scored 92 on, I actually enjoyed reading it compared to his old choppy sentences.
Liv is a wonderfully encouraging & intelligent writing tutor. She has helped me with editing drafts of my novel, both grammatically and structurally. She knows her stuff! Worth every penny.
Olivia is great! She tutored my three children ages 8, 10, and 12, in English writing and reading, and even helped my youngest with spelling and pronunciation.
In the first few weeks I noticed the youngest increase her vocabulary And middle child decided he wanted to look into modern poets and story tellers I hadn’t heard of because he found them more interesting than Magic Tree House. Thanks for helping my kids enjoy learning! Would recommend to friends, family, anyone who’s child needs a friendly push!View more recommendations
