About Darren

In high school, I was always the go-to person for essay help, and in my first two years of college, I helped edit and critique essays written by international students to help them do better in school. I’ve learned from those experiences that students learn best when their imaginations and ambitions run free, contrary to being fully restricted by traditional “educational goals”. As a tutor, I aim to connect with my students as a friend instead of a teacher, and help them find their own voice, style, and literary interests.

As a child, I loved to read over anything else, and as I grew older, that love for reading became a love for writing and editing. For me, the greatest satisfaction comes from being able to help children and teenagers enjoy reading and writing the same way I once did, or at the very least, develop an interest in a subject they never thought they could like.
