About Karen
I get so excited when students finally understand a concept or complete a successful assignment and take pride in their accomplishments. I enjoy encouraging students to recognize their natural intelligence.
I have been teaching for over 25 years. I began teaching high school and continue to teach at the community college.
I have a teaching degree in English, Theatre, and ESL. I have also completed a master's degree.

The first thing I do is ask what the student believes he or she is struggling with in English.
I use writing and speaking activities to determine the level of language the student has. Then, I research materials I have that will help improve the areas the student needs to refine.
