About Carly
I am able to find resources to help if we both get stuck. I am willing to learn together as well as helping your child find the best way they can learn.
What I enjoy most is making them feel more secure in their knowledge of a subject they felt ashamed to need help with in the first place. It's important to me that each student I teach knows that their way of learning is never the wrong way. I also learn differently than others, so it's fulfilling to me to teach a student that is in the same boat and helping them realize they're not alone.
I started with giving private piano lessons while I was still in high school, and from there I have been teaching as a para-professional in classrooms as well as tutoring one-on-one during the summer.
I have a Bachelor's in Biology of Science, with an extensive background in Ecology, Botany, Mammalogy, and working with animals. I have also been teaching music for 7 years as well as playing classical piano and singing since I was 6 years old.
I also do well with helping kids with math, history, social studies, psychology, physics, etc.

Usually the process is meeting with the parents first and finding out what their child needs help with. I also ask them how they learn best as well as how much tutoring they need, etc. Then it's about figuring out the schedule and how we can find the best routine that fits their needs.
I have worked with students with Autism and ADD, any age from 4 to early high school. I have also participated in helping lead study groups while in college to answer questions about the class material.
Each teacher's methods of helping you learn the material are different. The best strategy I can give in this context is to do your best to adapt your thinking to the way they teach, and we will do our best in turn to adapt to the way you learn best. This goes especially for private tutoring.
It didn't happen this year because of the pandemic, but every year I love going to the fair, whether it's in Idaho or southeastern Washington. Last year I went to the Western Idaho fair where REO Speedwagon was playing an outdoor concert.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Are you okay with background noise? Like being in a library or your living room? Or do you need a closed space like an office or study room where there's no distractions?
Are you willing to tell your parents if you need help with something extra? Or if you feel like you can grasp the material for a week or two it's ok to stop tutoring sessions for a bit until you need help again.
