About Sheryl

I have some private tutoring experience where those that I've taught have shown significant improvement and understanding in the needed skill set. I enjoy teaching math especially because I can show the basic principles that are included in every single problem and the steps that need to be taken, but I can still cater to your needs and show you the best techniques to take in order for you to get better. I strive to do my best in reaching your expectations and helping you accomplish your learning.

I love being able to teach others and see them grow! I view algebra and geometry as some of the hardest subjects when you first start out, but it is something that you can improve on quickly and can be very satisfying when you get in the flow. I enjoy seeing students get a better grip with solving math problems and reaching that "Ahah!" moment once they finally understand how to accomplish a task. Teaching is not only a way for me to help other students, but for me ot also connect and get to know you!

My typical process for working with a new student includes taking some time to get to know them, their interests, their learning style (visual, verbal, physical, etc), and their main focus subjects that they want to improve on. For tutoring on an ongoing basis, the next couple of sessions include slowly getting used to the lessons I teach and the work I give them.



I have worked with elementary school students, mostly in 4th and 5th grade, and a couple of middle school students as well. 



I would look for someone that you can easily communicate with. Being a junior in high school, I find myself being able to relate more to younger studentsbecause of the similar experiences we have, and I am able to utilize it in my teaching. However, age is not a critical factor, and I love teaching younger and older kids as long as we are on the same page and we can communicate well to gain a better understanding. 



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should disclose their learning style with teachers to get the most out of their learning experience. Visual and verbal learners absorb knowledge in different ways, and teachers should know before beginning.
