About Izzy

I am an independent Classics teacher and researcher, and I love sharing my enthusiasm for the Ancient Greek and Roman worlds with students. During my time as a postgraduate (I hold MAs in Classics and Latin from Columbia University), I became inspired by the opportunity to bring my passion for Classics to the classroom. I am now pursuing a career in secondary Classics education, and am especially enjoying the fulfilling experience of working one-on-one with tutoring clients to support each student's individual journey in Classics.

About the lesson

I have 3+ years of experience as a tutor and teacher of Classics, English, and essay writing. I've received MA degrees in Classics and Latin from a top American university (Columbia University) and taught Latin courses of various levels as a graduate student there. In my tutoring, I aim to be flexible and dynamic in my approach so as to best meet students' individual goals and needs. I am especially passionate about bringing elements of Classical mythology, culture, literature, and history into my language teaching and love to help students explore their own interests in the worlds of Ancient Greece and Rome. I work with students aged 11 and older, including university and postgraduate students, and adult learners. I have the most experience teaching elementary stages of Latin and advanced levels of all Classics subjects, but my educational background in the field leaves me well equipped to tutor at a wide variety of levels (including GCSE and A-Level).
