About Angus

I am an artist and musician based in London! I love teaching art because I have gained so much joy from being able to express myself through drawing / painting; It is an integral part of the way I understand myself and make sense of the world.

About the lesson

I have 5 years teaching experience and have been working professionally as an artist and musician for 8 years. I have recently graduated from the prestigious Royal Drawing School, receiving a full scholarship and have recently exhibited work at Christie's London. My lessons focus on what a student wants to learn and I cater to their needs. Broadly speaking, there is a focus on observational drawing / painting, using models, still lifes and sculptures as references. I encourage a magpie approach: through structuring lessons with a focus on contemporary and art historical artists, students are encouraged to 'steal' their favourite parts, developing their own visual vocabulary and distinct approaches. I will show you how to use different materials - e.g. paper, paints, pastels, and can go into more niche materials, like gum arabic, pigments etc. I will also encourage students to put aside ideas of right or wrong! Making mistakes is the best way to learn :)
