About Jakob
I see students constantly frustrated by the complexities and ambiguities of written English. What makes a sentence "sound right"? How can you tell the theme of a book? Why do some students just "get it", while others flounder?
With perfect scores on my SAT and AP English tests, and college coursework in Shakespeare and Milton, I'm one of the lucky few who "got it", and I want to help you get it too.
I'm here to de-mystify English. There are no hidden tricks— and no, literary analysis isn't all made up. I help students learn to read, analyze, and write with the skills they'll need for tests, college, and beyond.
I've helped students of all ages and skill levels. No matter where you are, I can help you become the reader and writer you want to be.

I've helped students of all ages achieve their English goals. I customize lessons for your goals, whether that's SAT prep, essay writing, or improving your reading comprehension. You can expect focused work with a collaborative attitude.
With most students, I use a mixture of direct instruction in the fundamentals of writing and dedicated time for reading and analyzing texts. Students will develop their critical analysis skills through essay writing and dialogue with me.
