About Chelsea

I am a second year student at Loyola University New Orleans majoring in flute performance. During my time playing the flute, I have won first chair twice in Florida All-State Band, second chair twice in the Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and numerous "Superior" grades at solo competitions on pieces such as Concertino op. 107 by Chaminade, Ballade by Perilhou and many more. I currently hold first chair in the Loyola Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble for the second year in a row as well.

About the lesson

During lessons I like to teach students how to be their own best teacher both in ensemble settings and in personal practice. This also includes sharing my favorite practice tips for different areas (getting a better tone, working out that really difficult run, breathing, etc.,) as well as weekly etudes or short pieces for the student to learn if more advanced. If completely new to playing the flute or music in general, my lessons hone in on teaching the student how to read music and go in depth on the foundational basics of the instrument.
