About Jakob

I am a History and Philosophy graduate of the University of San Diego, a published author, and a passionate advocate for the humanities. My academic background has provided me with a strong foundation in literature, historical analysis, critical thinking, and persuasive communication.

As the author of Exile, I understand firsthand the importance of clear writing, thoughtful interpretation, and finding one's own voice. My experience conducting extensive academic research and producing long-form written work allows me to guide students through challenging texts, complex arguments, and the writing process.

I approach tutoring with patience, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm for learning. I recognize that every student has different strengths, challenges, and goals, and I strive to create an encouraging environment where questions are welcomed and intellectual curiosity is celebrated.

Above all, I believe a good education does more than improve grades. It teaches students how to think independently, communicate confidently, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is rooted in the belief that education should cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence rather than memorization alone.

With an academic background in History and Philosophy from the University of San Diego, I offer personalized instruction in literature, classical literature, English grammar, and oratory (public speaking).

My lessons emphasize close reading, thoughtful interpretation, persuasive writing, effective communication, and the development of well-reasoned arguments. Whether you are studying Shakespeare, exploring Greek and Roman literature, strengthening your grammar, or preparing a speech, I tailor each lesson to your individual needs and academic goals.

I strive to create an engaging, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, challenging ideas, and developing their own intellectual voices. My goal is not simply to help students succeed academically, but to foster a lasting appreciation for language, literature, and the art of expression.
