About Bernadette

Hello! I am a conscientious, creative English teacher offering GCSE tuition as well as English lessons for speakers of a foreign language. For the past 3 years I have been involved with delivering GCSE and Functional Skills English lessons at a local FE College. Having worked with many Special Need students has enabled me to uniquely, and successfully, combine my skillsets as a TEFL teacher with teaching GCSE English. I hold a full DBS status as a college lecturer. I have also taught English as a foreign language, delivering 25-hour English language immersion courses within schools throughout Europe (pre-Covid) for over five years. This has enabled me to gain invaluable experience working with students of all ages, levels, and nationalities. In addition, I have worked as a freelance online TEFL teacher, teaching English to foreign students on a one-to-one basis, as well as having been a lecturer within the International Dept of an FE college with university status for several years. GCSE and Functional English courses aside, some of the many other specialised courses I have taught include Pronunciation, Conversational, and Business English. I have a clear standard accent and over 25 years of teaching experience in teaching environments.

About the lesson

I am a supportive, flexible, and empathetic teacher. Lessons are planned according to your goals and personality, and classes tend to be fun, in a firm way, and always in a relaxed atmosphere. It is important to completely understand your goals, as well as your interests, what motivates you, and your learning style too. By knowing this, I can tailor your learning experience and ensure it is one that you will derive maximum benefit from. I believe we should both be crystal clear about the expected outcomes of individual lessons as well as the agreed long-term goals.
