About Darya

Having been brought up in international schools with three languages spoken regularly around me, I perfectly master French and English, can have conversations in Spanish and am generally passionate about Literature. I obtained my literary baccalaureate with honors at the International Institute of Lancy. I have not stopped learning and evolving in this passion since, including during a year at Geneva's School of Journalism.

Fascinated by scenic performances of all kinds, I practiced theater for ten years. My experience allowed me to open a theatrical performance workshop, for instance, in the form of various exercises using the body and the voice. This amateur workshop quickly became a troupe of young enthusiasts who wanted both to know the world of a playwright and gain confidence on stage!

I have experience in English / French and French / English translation, as well as in interpreting, and have clients from the legal sphere to the event industry. I therefore can translate, proofread and rewrite documents !

I am an avid traveller and have learned a lot from my international exchanges. Communication will always be one of my major focuses and centers of interest. With the professional and personal experiences I have accumulated, I hope to boost your confidence and self-esteem, overcome your fears when it comes to expressing yourself, and eliminate any difficulties in practising English on a daily basis :)

As I am freelance in different fields, I manage my schedule and can adapt to YOUR needs, because regular practice, passion and support are fundamental keys to learning. I also greatly value meeting in person, despite how complicated it can be nowadays !

About the lesson

Each student requires a different methodology. Listening to them, I value their qualities and abilities while working on my student's needs in a playful and tactical way.

The first part of all of my lessons inevitably takes place in the form of a discussion, during which we correct everything that needs to be corrected, and note any errors or insecurities to be sure to eliminate them ! Then the rest depends on you...

I am used to preparing before each course adapted exercises according to levels and needs, and subjects to discuss and elaborate. If the gaps are in syntax, but the strengths are in vocabulary, for instance, we will strengthen its development whilst working on both syntax and written practice ! This method allows us to prepare for different types of exams.

I particularly enjoy working with children as I love teaching young minds, but have had the pleasure of working with/for people of all ages and skill sets!

If the student only wants to practice orally, we can schedule several half-hour lessons per week, for example, during which discussion will be at the heart of our training ! It is as much about work as it is about trust and practice.

In a professional world, it is necessary to know how to present oneself with confidence, to speak about one's interests, to ackowledge and use the news in the desired language, to appropriate the technical language of one's profession, all of which we can work together.

I am also regularly available outside the scheduled sessions and can translate / correct / discuss with you when necessary !

My son needed to feel supported with his homework in French, and hugely lacked of confidence. Darya helped him find focus and passion especially when it comes to reading. During lessons, she showed him that even when you don’t know something, it never is a shame to learn ! She has been very professional and flexible. Thank you.
