About Imogen

I am originally from Melbourne, Australia, but ever since I was a child I have always been interested in learning about languages and other cultures.

I spent 6 years living and teaching English in Madrid, Spain which was a really enriching experience. I have also lived a short time in Guadalajara, Mexico as part of my university studies. Since then I have fallen in love with the Spanish speaking world!

I love teaching English to non-native speakers because it makes me happy to see my students progressing in their skills and confidence.

Speaking another language can change your life in really positive ways and I feel privileged to be a part of my students' journeys towards English fluency.

About the lesson

My techniques and methodology:

I use a student-centered, skills-first approach with clear explanations, guided practice, and frequent, constructive feedback.
I prioritize a kind, supportive atmosphere so you feel comfortable taking risks and building confidence.

Typical length of a lesson:

Standard lessons are 45–60 minutes. I also offer 30-minute sessions for younger learners or focused skills, and 90-minute blocks for intensive exam or project preparation. I recommend weekly lessons for steady progress, with flexible scheduling for intensive review.

Qualifications/experience as a teacher:

- Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Spanish and Latin American Studies
- Master of Primary & Secondary Teaching specializing in TESOL and Languages
- Cambridge CELTA certification
- Native English speaker
- Fluent in Spanish (useful for explaining concepts to Spanish speakers)
- 10+ years experience teaching children and adults from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds

I teach English to children, teens and adults, beginners through to advanced.

Specialties: general and academic English, conversational fluency, exam preparation, and tailored lessons for learners from varied cultural/linguistic backgrounds. Sessions are personalized to age, level and individual goals.
