About Laiyla
I am a current UCLA student double majoring in Economics and Global Studies. I completed all Pre-University Mathematics courses by the time I was 13, and started tutoring at the age of 14. To date, I have had the privilege of teaching 54 wonderful students, all of whom have seen minimally 2 grade jumps under me. My students describe me as understanding, approachable, and most importantly, good at breaking down and explaining concepts.
Ultimately, what sets me apart from other tutors is that I have the ability to relate to my students (likely because of the closer age gap!) while still having the years of experience that aids in successful lessons.

In my classes, I emphasize understanding concepts over rote memorization of formulas which ensures a strong foundation to see students through higher levels. A typical lesson with me looks very different depending on the students level and current proficiency, but rest assured I have experience teaching student between the ages of 10-19.
Ultimately, my goal with all my students is to build a strong numeracy foundation and inculcate good study habits such that they don’t need me or any other tutor to continue excelling.
