About Hamish

While living in Taiwan for 10 years, I taught English as a foreign language to all ages, from children to adults. In New Zealand I taught English literature and Chinese language to high school students from 11 to 18 for 4 years. In France, since April, I have started offering classes to individuals and groups. I have a good record of helping students to do well in exams and build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

About the lesson

I'm a New Zealander and a qualified teacher who has acquired 15 years of experience in teaching practice and theory. I offer individual lessons or small groups sessions for 1 to 2 hours, via Skype or in person. All ages are welcome, but it would be more effective if students with the same level and objectives study together. That said, I can adapt to different needs and levels using technological tools, articles and textbooks to suit.

Hamish taught me Chinese on a weekly basis whilst he was still living in Wellington. As a tutor, he was fantastic, providing in-depth knowledge of the language to a student who was still making his way through the beginning stages. Hamish always took the opportunity to go above and beyond the call of duty, recommending good Chinese media to read and watch, showing me apps I could use to practice my Chinese, and generally making sure I was able to extend myself how I wished.
