Literacy is the social currency that all should have. I have worked for years helping students become literate, and even getting some of the most hesitant readers to fall in love with reading. I have successfully taught English Language Arts for the last fifteen years in both middle and high schools in NYC. I have worked with wide range of student ability levels and have a proven track record. I am consistent, engaging, diligent, and resourceful.
My lessons are structured to ensure that each learner gets to practice the skill being taught after watching it being modeled, and trying it out together. I assess learning frequently and map out next steps that make the most sense.
My background ranges from sixth to twelfth grades and I have had Orton Gillingham training. I was a History major from a top university and since then I have had extensive training in reading and writing instruction.
