About Maryam

I know firsthand that high school coursework can sometimes feel overwhelming, but with the right guidance, it doesn't have to be.

While I am a high school student, my approach to tutoring is deeply professional, structured, and organized. I pride myself on maintaining an exceptional academic record, particularly in advanced English and the sciences. Because I am currently navigating the exact same academic environment, I am uniquely in tune with the Manitoba curriculum. I know exactly what current teachers look for on rubrics, how exams are structured, and the specific study strategies required to earn top marks.

When you work with me, you are getting a tutor who is completely invested in your success. I approach every lesson with the utmost punctuality, thorough preparation, and an encouraging, patient attitude. Whether you are aiming to turn a passing grade into an A, or looking for a supportive space to build your confidence in English, you can count on a structured, high-quality learning experience tailored entirely to you.

Looking to Excel in Science, Biology, or English? Learn from a Peer Who Knows the Curriculum Inside Out!
Hi! I’m a Grade 12 student based right here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and I am offering personalized, relatable peer tutoring to help students boost their grades, build confidence, and truly understand what they are learning.

Because I am a high school student myself, I am actively immersed in the current Manitoba curriculum. I know exactly what teachers are looking for on rubrics, how exams are structured, and the common pitfalls that trip students up. I don't just teach the material, I teach how to succeed within the system.

My Teaching Methodology & Techniques
I don’t believe in boring lectures or just reading from a textbook. My approach is interactive, encouraging, and tailored to how you learn best:

The "We Do, You Do" Method: We break down a concept together step-by-step, and then I guide you through practice problems until you can conquer them independently.

Active Recall & Visuals: For biology and science, we use memory-boosting techniques like drawing out systems, creating custom flashcards, and testing your knowledge with quick, stress-free quizzes.

Bilingual Integration: I am fully fluent in both Arabic and English. If a concept is confusing in English, I can explain it in Arabic to build a solid foundation, then seamlessly bridge the gap back to the English curriculum.

A Typical 60-Minute Lesson Plan
Every session is structured to maximize time and keep things engaging:

The Warm-Up (5-10 mins): A quick review of previous material or a check-in on any immediate homework/assignment questions you brought.

Core Learning (25 mins): Tackling the main topic of the day using visual breakdowns, interactive notes, or essay-planning strategies.

Guided Practice (15 mins): Working through curriculum-specific problems or writing prompts together to apply what you just learned.

Wrap-Up & Review (5-10 mins): A summary of the key takeaways and a quick preview of what to look out for in your next school class.

What Sets Me Apart?
Curriculum-Aligned: I don't teach generic concepts. I base my lessons directly on what Manitoba high school teachers are grading you on right now.

Language & Communication Specialist: With advanced English skills and complete fluency in Arabic, I can easily support students who are navigating language barriers while trying to learn complex scientific terms.

Zero-Judgment Zone: As a peer, I understand the stress of high school. I create a patient, encouraging space where asking questions is celebrated.
Who These Lessons Are For
My lessons are specifically designed for:

English Learners: Anyone from beginner English speakers looking to build foundational language confidence, reading comprehension, and writing skills.

Grade 10 Science Students: Students tackling the core units of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology who want to turn confusing formulas into easy steps.

Grade 11 Biology Students: Students diving deep into Anatomy and human body systems who need help memorizing, understanding, and mastering heavy course content.
