About Eddie

I'm Eddie Duckworth, a USCF-rated tournament chess player (Regular rating 1742, US Chess ID (concealed information) — my record is public at ratings.uschess.org). I taught chess with the Berkeley Chess School and spent years competing in East Bay tournaments like the Pinole Quads, and I also directed rated events as a certified USCF Club Tournament Director. I have 4–5 years of coaching experience with kids and adults, from total beginners learning how the pieces move to intermediate players preparing for their first rated tournament. My teaching style is patient, practical, and built around your own games.

I taught chess with the Berkeley Chess School and directed rated tournaments, so I know how to make the game click for a first-time player and how to sharpen someone who's ready to compete. Lessons cover tactics, strategy, openings, and endgames — always using your own games as the textbook.
