About Burak

Drums have been my whole professional life for over 25 years—playing arenas, TV orchestras, and Glastonbury in 2022, working as a session and touring drummer, and spending years on the artist relations side of the industry with Istanbul Agop Cymbals. I also lead a soul/funk orchestra called Soul Stuff, so playing live is still very much part of my week, not just something I used to do.

A few years ago I set up a small teaching and recording studio in Haringey, North London, because I wanted to bring everything I'd learnt on stage and in studios to people who are just starting out—or trying to get to the next level. Also I am still a big time student of the instrument and digging the recording side of things deeper every day.

I teach in English and Turkish, and welcome all ages and ethnicities.

Outside of teaching, I'm still out playing and recording regularly, which keeps my own playing (and my teaching) honest.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around the student, not a fixed syllabus but a basic structure. Whether you're an adult picking up sticks for the very first time or a child working towards a grade exam, we start with where you actually are—not where a generic lesson plan assumes you should be.

For adult beginners, the focus will be on building confidence early: solid technique from day one, no pressure, no judgement and steady progress you can actually feel. Then we will progress from there.

For kids and young students, I teach towards the Rockschool, Trinity, ABRSM and LCM grade syllabuses, with structured practice plans and clear goals so both the student and parent can see progress between lessons.

Every lesson is 60mins, one-to-one and tailored—whether online, in my Haringey studio, or at your home. With 25+ years as a professional drummer (Glastonbury, arena tours, TV orchestra work), I bring real playing experience into how I teach, not just theory.

I am based in Sutton and my studio is in Haringey so I have great coverage around London and Greater London so just let me know where you are!
