About Emily
The Brontë English Tutors have a combined experience of studying and tutoring in English Writing and Literature for over 30 years. Not only do we have a passion for language and literature, but we have a passion for learning. Our goal is to make your British Literature essay feel fun and your "To Kill A Mockingbird" book report feel like a breeze. We love what we do and we want students to find what they can love about it to. Over the years, we have found that students excel in a subject when they can find a way to have fun with it. We aim to improve not only their grades but their appreciation for the material at hand. We have tutors readily available with flexible schedules to meet your needs, whether online or in person. All of our tutors have Bachelors degrees or higher in English Literature or Writing. They have presented at National conferences on English literature and language and have have won a variety of notable awards such as The Academy of American Poets award and the English Association of Pennsylvania State Universities Project award, as well as many other accolades, grants, and scholarships. Our tutors and our business have one priority and that is ensuring the success and happiness of your student. Before we even begin working with your student, we will do a quick and easy evaluation of their specific needs to pair them with the best possible tutor.
Our methodology is based upon our findings that students learn best when they are enjoying the subject matter. As we work with your student we will integrate the aspects of learning that they enjoy into the subject matter that they are struggling with.
(ex. A student love writing but cannot focus on their reading assignments; We will teach the student how to read ina way that is creatively oriented and utilized their skills as a writer to keep them more engaged. This in turn teaches them how to use a critical eye for analysis and dissect the material effectively.)
Additionally we use a multi faceted teaching method, specifically designed for English students. Your student will be writing, reading, presenting and doing creative work around the material they already have. This integrated approach will allow them to find out how they learn best, to spend more time with the material beyond reading it on a page, and deepen their understanding of literature and language.
